Important Information for Program

Updated Student Success Information and Advisory Committee Contacts are available upon request from the department.

If you would like to be a detective to identify clues to help diagnose patients, this growing field may be right for you! This opens up a variety of job opportunities including hospitals, clinics, industry, research, and independent labs.

Articulation and Advanced Training

Because some jobs/employers embrace the idea of “lifelong learning” and career advancement, MTC’s associate degree program in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) has developed solid “2 + 2” options with leading Ohio colleges and universities so that graduates can smoothly transition into and complete a bachelor’s degree program.

  • An option for advanced education with Bowling Green State University and a bachelor’s degree in Health Technologies; to learn more click here.
  • An option for advanced education with Ohio State University offers an MT bachelor’s degree details can be found at http://majors.osu.edu/.

Life Experience Credit

At MTC, the ultimate importance is placed on what you know, not the where, and how.

Life Experience Credit (formerly called Credit for Prior Learning) allows the College to grant credit for demonstrated competencies normally learned through traditional classroom attendance, or for courses that do not meet traditional guidelines for the “credit by examination” process.

Life Experience Credit sources may include work and supervisory experience, the knowledge gained from personal studies, travel, hobbies, and other achievements and experiences.

See your program Dean/Director to learn more about how Life Experience Credit may be able to “jumpstart” your degree plans.
